At the end of a days sailing last Friday, ‘DSA Free Spirit 2’ picked up a ‘Pan-Pan’ call from a yacht in distress off Berry Head. The yacht had a broken rudder and had lost steerage. Being stranded off Berry Head with no steerage and with an onshore wind is not to be recommended! 

The young family, with a couple of small children on board, were very pleased when DSA Skipper Barry and the crew responded to their call.

They arrived shortly after and the crew threw them a couple of lines and proceeded to tow them back to Brixham where they were picked up by the Brixham harbour master in his rib, having been alerted by the Coastguard

So all’s well that ends well on another exciting day sailing with the DSA
